The earliest form of wheel such as was evolved in the Near East, thousands of years ago is perpetuated on this simple vehicle.

This set of 2 instuction sheets for making a harness for a model heavy horse was first published in conjunction with Lenham Pottery, and the patterns are sized to suit the 1/8th scale Lenham Pottery horses. The arrangement of a typical cart or waggon shaft harness and of a trace harness suitable for a plough horse are illustrated. The patterns enable a harness to be made from leather and brass wire etc. Learn More

Built in 1909 by Brookes of Gloucester, this was a very showy outfit for taking produce to market, painted in red and blue.
The spindled sides give the vehicle a lighter appearance, but it is actually quite large and heavy, and would have been used on occasion for sheep and pigs as well as for vegetables and for the farmer's personal transport.
Also available in 1/8th scale JT45A. Learn More

It embodies all the features of a typical village dung cart, before it was replaced by factory made vehicles, and incorporates the names of parts as given by George Sturt.
I do not know of any surviving example of such a cart in it's original condition, but all the details of it's structure are shown on this plan.
Also available 1/12th scale JT12B Learn More
